Why Use an Instant Pot Instead of a Crock Pot Slow Cooker

Why Use an Instant Pot Instead of a Crock Pot Slow Cooker

Instant Pot

We love to cook. Here a few things that make it fun for us.
What is an Instant Pot?

Everyone thinks pressure cooker, including me, but what does that even mean?  A pressure cooker is basically a sealed appliance that cooks faster than conventional cooking methods – which means it also saves energy.

The reality being that it’s actually a multi-cooker which combines 7 kitchen appliances in 1:

Pressure Cooker
Slow Cooker
Rice Cooker
Steamer
Sauté
Yogurt Maker
Warmer
Let me be honest though, I’ve only used it as a pressure cooker.

Who is an Instant Pot for?

We don’t all need every kitchen appliance that is available, so who is an Instant Pot for?

If you like:

Easy peasy
Crockpot convenience
Hands-off cooking
Get an Instant Pot!

Isn’t that the same as a Crockpot?

Okay, okay, you may be thinking that the reasons listed above apply to the Crockpot and slow cooker as well – so, why do you need another kitchen appliance?

Why get an Instant Pot?

Faster

Who has time for 8-10 hours on low all day? I mean it’s great if you remember to put stuff in the Crockpot, but let’s be honest how many times have you meant to do that and totally forgot. Then, you don’t have time, right? It’s okay, we’ve all done it.

Nutrient dense

This confused me, I thought faster cooking meant hotter and would kill more nutrients, right?

Boiling reduced nutrients the most with a range of 40-75% retained (up to a 60% loss of nutrients!)
Roasting and steaming preserved up to 90% of nutrients (but in some measurements, almost half of nutrients were lost!)
Pressure cooking did the best job at preserving nutrients with a 90-95% retention rate
No pre-thought required

No worries if you forget to throw it in in the morning and the prep work that goes with that. I mentioned faster right, what if I told you less than an hour compared to the 8-10 hours of a slow cooker! Impressed?

My Favorite Meal

In the following video, I share many of these same thoughts and ideas and we compressed the before and after so that you can see the entire process from start to finish!

I did mention that I’ve only used this appliance as a pressure cooker, right? I also failed to mention my rice cooker and my favorite rice in the video, so check out those links if you get a chance.
